I went up to Vernal Falls, but still had one of the most memerable experiences ever! I think this year i’m going the whole way!!! HALF DOME! I’ll need to start training again :]
I want to get a squirrel suit and jump off half dome!!! That would be the best thing ever!!!! So exhilarating!! GO TO YOSEMITE!!! no matter what, it’s amazing! xXx

I was told that the cables are always there, but right now the posts and footboards aren’t up, so the cable is laying on the rock. I wouldn’t do it if you have never done half dome before. Climbing that without the posts would be difficult, the cable is very heavy.
wow. its beauty shines through even the worst pixelization. Truly, that is the test of a world wonder.
Yosemite is really beatiful so is kings canyon they were an important aim for me
But the canadian parks banf and jasper i even found more stunning.
tunnel view yosemite looks fantastic but the peyto lake lookut in banf beats them all
so there’s no way that anyone can get to the top until they put up the cables, that sucks i’ll guess i’ll wait ’til april, thanks….
The Half Dome cables won’t be up in March. The Park Service doesn’t normally raise the cables until the snow is clear, which isn’t until late April or May.

the thing is that my birthday is in march, also i wanna see yosemite on winter, thanks for the advice and AndyMH182 too.
i wanna do the two day trip where you stay on little yosemite over night, and then walk up there, and take some good panoramic pictures for my expo. thank you and i’ll check the webpage again for more tips.
@sotelito6 PLEASE do not attempt this hike until the cables are up in late spring – one little misstep and you can die! The trail can be slippery with ice! The Yosemtie Park webpage has excellent advice on preparing for this hike, including a checklist of necessary gear for a safe hike.
I had some thing called a “camel pouch” or something, it’s basically a small backpack with a sack of water in it with a hose that can reach your mouth. I just brought a few cliff bars which held me over to the top of Vernal Falls.
It’s a 10-12 hour hike if you do it in one day, so be prepared.
hey i’m planing on doing the hike my self, on my birthday this upcoming march, i have very little experience on backpacking is there any advice i should know, like food or water wise. thanks

also the best thing we ever did was to begin hiking up the halfdome (from the camp a little ways down) around 4am…we avoided the sun beating down on us 3/4 of the time climbing up and although i sweat my ass off i couldnt imagine doing this with the sun beating down on me
i did this with my mom and sis in two days..lol my poor 53 year old mom says shell never do it again..this was her second time doing it..the first time she did it she literally ruined her toenails after completing it in just ONE day..she now has artificial toe nails
10.5 hours is average performance. Try 8-9 hours.
i just got intohiking little did i know it was hard going up mt whitney in 12 hours 22 miles, half domne is my next quest. hiking just sshows u how awesome nature is
These pussies camped overnight lol. I did this hike with my 51 year old dad in one straight shot. 10 and a half hours later we were exhausted.
