This book is a great companion for anyone hiking in Shenandoah. Each tour offers a precise description of the route along with the degree of difficulty and elevation changes. Rating: 5 / 5
I usually like the Falcon and it guides, but not their best effort, not bad. The report covers the park from top to bottom and offers the usual mix of Falcon easy to read, but oversimplified maps, graphs and addresses useful information gap road. But because this is the Shenandoah National Park, I can not help comparing the ‘one size fits all’ format of the Falcon guide to the best hiking guide has been written by Henry Heatwole Guide to Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park (Bulletin / Shenandoah Natural History Association). Heatwole book is out of date – the resources needed to continue publishing updated versions just were not there after his death. But it was never meant to be a way to make lots of money. Heatwole loved the park and its trails and used that love on each page (which made each map, for example, by hand). After using Heatwole for years, the Falcon guide is like synthetic crabmeat. Okay, but surely not crab. So here’s the good news. Heatwole guide was so lost that volunteers, in collaboration with the Park Service, have issued an updated version virtual web [. . . ] You may want to try that first, and then come back here if you still have hambre.Valoración: 3 / 5
I bought this book with my girlfriend two years ago and have done three hikes in the book. . . all of the “strenuous” variety, ranging from 7. 5-10. 0 hikes miles. This past weekend we made cedar Race / Osuna Canyon hike. . . nine waterfalls (it seemed longer) and what a wonderful walk era.El is very well organized book. Has all relevant information about what to expect on the walk and gives highlights of the things you find (and the approximate mile marker you can expect to find them). The information includes marker Profile Dr. miles to find the trail head, the length of the walk, difficulty walking, vertical lift, a map of the tour that includes a geographic information, a vertical elevation map includes mileage markers, a marker of short-mileage summary of the walk, and a descriptive page that takes you through each step of the caminata.Ahora, the only thing I found wrong with this book is that some of the names the tracks are not as advertised. For example, this weekend at Canyon Osuna Road, at the First Falls told us to cross a bridge and follow the Osuna Rd fire, but did not announce concrete pole fire Osuna Rd. Using the map of the trails referred to in the book and a sense of direction, we found the road, but were not sure if we were on the right track, and have found a marker of the road until we made the turn back at the beginning of the walk (about 1. 7 miles of walking). We have experienced similar problems in other hikes we did, but that was the worst. With all the information provided in the book, even if written instructions are a little blurry, maps and additional information will be kept on the road correcto.Si you do your primary book for hiking SNP, I would not have no longer practical to plan trips and recommend it to anyone who likes hiking. Rating: 4 / 5
I bought this book in a day trip to spotaneous SNP. I had planned to hike in one of the few trails that knew the area and stopped in a ditch to look at the books of thought for more information on the track or even consider an alternative. I discovered this book in the store and was surprised to learn that there are many good roads in the park. I think most people are only aware of the most popular trails and guides to what it has little choice. So far I have tried two of the paths the list and descriptions and maps were excellent and accurate. The most important thing this book has informed me of many new roads within 2 hours of where they live that had not been aware. The descriptions of trails gives me great information to decide what I want to try. I hope that this guide will be useful for many years to come. Rating: 5 / 5
I liked the organization of this book, and I really liked how organized hikes in the annex, listing them by difficulty, time to walk, with children, etcDicho this, the descriptions can be made, and maps and the illustrations were very pobres.Yo not recommend this book to everyone. There are better books on this topic for a few dollars more. Rating: 2 / 5
